NY Metro IP Network
The NY Metro regional ip network is based on a ring architecture connecting major
Telco hotels in NYC metro area. Each of the points of presence within the ring is con-
nected to well known Tier 1 and 2 backbones (see below) to ensure that failure of a sin-
gle fiber path or point of presence does not effect the availability of our IP services. To
ensure the best quality of service, NY Metro IP network is connected via most public
peering facilities in the area as well as various private peering arrangements. This gives
our customer the most direct and fastest path to local as well as national and interna-
tional networks.
Regional Fiber Backbone & Transport
All NJIIX point of presence within metro ring are interconnected using Lucent's All-
Wave and Corning dark fiber with redundant physical paths. Utilizing only dark fiber
connections gives us greater flexibility and allows us to meet our customer demands by
having virtually unlimited expansion capabilities via technologies such as Dense and
Coarse Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM & CWDM). Such technologies
make addition of IP capacity simple and efficient.
